About

The University Lectures

Now in its ninth year, University Lectures maintains its tradition of bringing to the Syracuse University campus some of the most influential movers and shakers from around the world for the 2009-10 season.  Eight distinguished speakers have been invited by University Lectures this year to educate and inspire in the areas of human rights; advocacy for children and families; storytelling; media production; sustainability; journalism and reporting; and the beauty of poetry.

Each of this season’s speakers, profiled here, have achieved the highest levels of excellence in their respective fields. University Lectures invites you to come, listen and experience for yourself their knowledge, energy and passion for their professions.

University Lectures is a cross-disciplinary lecture series that brings to the University individuals of exceptional accomplishment. The series is supported by the generosity of University Trustees, alumni and friends. The lectures are free and open to the public.

The Office of University Lectures welcomes suggestions for future speakers. To recommend a speaker, or for additional information about University Lectures, please contact Esther Gray in the Office of Academic Affairs at 315-443-2941 or eegray@syr.edu.
